Head Removal

Heads #1, #2, and #3

Heads #4, #5, and #6

Removing the heads was very straight forward. For that matter, removing anything is usually the easy part. All valves were closed and there was not an excessive amount of carbon build up on any of them. Outside of the RTV on the cam side, they all looked good.

On the #3 and #2 heads the severe oil leakage and buildup can be seen on the exhaust side. Valve surfaces were clean and devoid of any dents or mars indicating that none of the ring parts made their way into the combustion chamber. This was especially interesting for #3 as that is where all the bits and pieces came from.

#4, #5, and #6 heads look clean compared to the oposing bank. The sealing surface on #4 was of interest as #4 had one broken exhaust side head stud. No damage is apparent and the head can be used again with confidence.
